reviving an Apple II

Thanks to Mike for a great site on Apple II repair and diagnostics.
I have an Apple II that is not chiming or displaying video.
I started to follow Mike's advice and check the following:

1. Check voltages from power supply
2. Check processor to make sure it is not being held in reset
3. Check processor to make sure it is receiving 1MHZ clock
...

I got as far as knowing that the power supply is providing the correct voltages to the board. I am unclear what to look for in process 2. Could anyone anyone make it a little simpler what meant by held in reset.
Thanks for any help.
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Based on your question, it seems to me that you should start by learning a bit about microprocessors. One of the great attractions of these old machines, is that they are relatively easy to understand. I would do a google search for "microprocessor tutorial 6502" and do some studying. If you still don't get the info you need, try "microprocessor tutorial 6502 reset".
